51 Optimists & 4 guests attended our meeting.  Dan Metzger & Ryan Harper were the guests of Scott Whitaker; Keegan Tom & Kamden Tom were the guests of Angie & Kyle Tom.

Prayer was offered by Merl Heckaman. 

Pledge was given to the American Flag.  Promise yourself was said in unison.

Birthday Honoree:  Bob Ibach.  Bill Landrigan led us in the birthday song with our old time – off time results.

Praise Report:  It was good to see the whole Tom Family today, including Kamden Tom,

Membership:  Lt. Gov. Sam Whitaker read Yolanda Hedington’s, Ryan Harper’s, & Dan Metzger’s applications.  Jane Wear sponsored Yolanda & Scott Whitaker sponsored Ryan & Dan.

Sheriff of AttendanceBill Landrigan & Harry Gigous will be re-starting up their efforts after taking off this week.  They have had over 80 here for several weeks. 

Car Show:  Past Pres. John Elliott announced we will have a short planning meeting after our January 4thmeeting.

The Car Show will be May 20th.

Thanks to Fred Nieter and Past Lt. Gov. Jim Reeve for spreading more salt this morning.  Also thanks toFred for warning us of the ice patches.

Henry Church is going to be busy visiting South Africa, Malta, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Iraq, & Egypt.   

Past Gov. Ron Donkers announced that registration is now open for our Triathlon.

Sergeants-at-Arms:  Past Pres. Jim Nesbitt entertained us.  Past Pres. George Brennan is expecting 2 new grandchildren.  Everett Nifong is expecting a new grandchild.  Past Lt. Gov. Dr. David Haines has retired & has a new grandchild.  He says, “It is not a contest!”  Dr. Jason Rich was featured in the paper reading to kids.  Merl Heckaman’s grandkids were great Octagon elves when he was at the Santa House. Ken Zortman has permanent custody of his granddaughter thanks to Jim Walmer & Judge Huffer.  Past Pres. Dr. Charles Hollar & all of us were happy to see the whole Tom Family today.  Dave Turner is enjoying his new parts to his back.  He is walking better.  Dr. Joe Thallemer appreciated the support he received from Optimists in his successful Mayoral race.  The Purdue fans were recognized for the Pizza Bowl win.    

Program:  Merl Heckaman and Bill Landrigan entertained us as they auctioned off our “White Elephant” items.  Bill also sang his famous “Auctioneer Song” for us.  It would not be an Auction without hearing Billsing!

Treasurer, Jennifer Dorman reports over $300 was raised.

John Sullivan bought some Christmas Tree bulbs that happened to have his gavel in the bag.
