Max Sherman, our speaker this morning
spoke of Mitochondria, Microflora, and
Biofilms. Max is retired from Zimmer and
DePuy, is a pharmacist, and a writer. He discussed
with us the amazing numbers of mitochondria
and microflora we have in our bodies.
Mitochondria are the power generators
within the cells. They have genes just like the
cell nucleus. The microflora are the original
“illegal immigrants” in our bodies that help us
to digest and even prevent diseases such as
colorectal cancers and ulcers. We have
more than 300 species of bacteria in our
mouths; more than the numbers of people on
earth. Max’s information this morning helps us
to be astounded at the complex relationships
and systems occurring within our bodies daily.
