Program:

Trace Hansen is on the U.S. Olympic Committee’s (USOC) Athletic Advisory Council (AAC).  Trace is one of 48 athletes on the AAC.

The AAC meets 3 times a year.  Their main responsibility is to ensure athletes’ rights are protected.  They work with the USDA on drug testing issues.  Some want to stop taking the “B” sample for drug testing.  The AAC lobbies to keep it to protect against false positives.

The AAC’s SafeSport is a set of guidelines to protect athletes from abuse.  The AAC is trying to change Rule 40 to not so restrictive of athletes’ ability to market for non-sponsors before and during games.  Another change AAC is working on is to make direct support of athletes tax exempt.

The AAC also works on community events.  WorldFit had 30,000 students walk 2.2 million miles.  Olympic Day went to 529 cities with 552 Olympians and 203,000 participants.
