Program – The Optimist Singers honored Veterans with a musical tribute. Martin Becker read the background of the folded flag that is given to the families of a fallen service member:65r

  • 13 folds: The U.S. flag is folded 13 times, representing the original 13 colonies.
  • Symbolic meanings: Each fold has a specific symbolic meaning, such as honoring life, eternal life, and paying tribute to the country and its armed forces.
  • Triangular shape: The folding process creates a triangular shape, which is a tribute to the cocked hats worn by soldiers during the Revolutionary War, like George Washington.
  • Final appearance: The final folded flag, with the blue field and white stars visible, symbolizes the night sky, representing the lowering of the flag at the end of the day.
