Becky Kiphart, WCC’s Early Childhood Leader, along with her husband Rory and brother Michael Webb, saw a need in the community for children’s beds and together formed the Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) Kosciusko County chapter. “SHP’s mission statement is No Kid Sleeps on the Floor in Our Town,” said Becky. It is estimated that 3,000 children in Kosciusko County may need a bed. There have been 200 beds built and 100 delivered in the County.
Sleep in Heavenly Peace an international, volunteer-driven, nonprofit dedicated to building and delivering handmade beds to children in need. SHP’s mission is to tackle childhood bedlessness, which is estimated to affect nearly 10 million children in the U.S. — 200,000 in Indiana. Kosciusko County, the newest SHP chapter, is now one of more than 300 chapters in 44 states and four countries.
If anyone can provide new twin sized bedding, drop off is @ Warsaw Community Church. There is an upcoming build day July 27, @ Syracuse Calvary United Methodist, Syracuse, Indiana.
