Program:

Assistant City Planner Tim Dombrosky & Park Department Activities Director Staci Young told us about our Greenways.  We have 3 great Greenways on the outskirts of Warsaw / Winona Lake.  The connections are starting to come together.  In order to connect them, we have to use non-Greenway areas.

The Ride Walk Warsaw Winona Lake collaboration, between Warsaw, Winona Lake, runners, walkers, bicyclists, Park Department, Planners Office, Police has helped with the best real life solutions.

Some of the solutions are bike lanes and education of both vehicle drivers and bicyclists.  We all need to follow the rules of the road.  A great new resource is a map that has our streets color coded with bicycle suitability from the results of an algorithm.

The Bicycle + Pedestrian Master Plan is progressing.  Smith Street, West Center Street, and McKinley Street are all done.  Market Street is coming.  An exciting new addition will be the Krebs Trailhead Park.  It will have restrooms, a bicycle repair station, and even a historic Interurban Rails section.

Warsaw / Winona Lake has been named a Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists.  Our Fat and Skinny Tire Festival is a premier event in the Midwest.
