A Veteran’s Day Salute

Veteran’s Salute by The Optimist Singers as directed by Marty Becker. Songs performed included: The Star Spangled Banner, Let the Nations Sing, The Sword of Bunker Hill, Let There Be Peace on Earth, God Bless the USA, and the Armed Services Medley.

Marty Becker completed the tribute by playing Taps on his trumpet.

During the program a video of the late comedian Robin Williams as the American flag was played to lighten the mood.  You can access the video on YouTube.

Committee Reports and Announcements:

A club visitation is planned for Mon., Nov. 20 with the Warsaw Noon Optimist Club at Grace College’s cafeteria. Meet in the cafeteria at 11:45. Also, the downtown club will be visiting during the Nov. 15 meeting for their poinsettia fundraiser. (Contact Ron Chambers for more information)

The Terry Polston Hoops for Hope Classic is Nov. 17 & 18 MOOC at Grace College. Sponsorship forms were made available at the meeting. All proceeds go to support Kos. Co. Cancer Care Fund. (Contact Coach Kessler)

Bell ringers for the Salvation Army are needed on Sat., Dec. 2. Locations: K-Mart, North and South doors of Walmart. Shifts are one hour long. A total of 24 volunteers is needed. (Contact Pam Galloway for more information and to sign-up)

The Optimist Santa House needs volunteers to play Santa or to act as a supervisor on weekends during the holiday season. Shifts are 4 hours long. Octagon club will be filling in as Santa’s elves. (Contact Andrew O’Connell for more information and to volunteer)
