85 Optimists & 5 guests attended our meeting. Ron Henry was the guest of Sam Whitaker; Noel Hoke was the guest of Luke Becknell; Alan Soskin was the guest of Rick Kerlin; Lt. Gov. Elect Jim Burk & Dianne Burk were the guests of our club.
Prayer was offered by Merl Heckaman after he led us in singing “How Great Thou Art”.
Pledge was given to the American Flag.
Promise yourself was said in unison.
Birthday Honorees: Ken Anderson & John Teevan. Dr. David Haines led us in the birthday song with our usual results.

Prayer Request: Jim Hayes’ family at the passing of his mother, Norma. Lecia Derrossett’s uncle’s recovery from a heart attack.

Sheriff of Attendance, After buying his hat back, Bill Landrigan greeted Aaron Rovenstine & George Paton. He reported we have had 85 in attendance for several weeks!
Car Show: Past Pres. John Elliott announced the department heads for our May 20th Car Show. He reminded us that we were going to each buy a $25 plaque for participants instead of selling Christmas Trees. We all need to see if our employers can donate at the $100 or higher level. Please tell John about any Car Clubs that you know of within 100 miles of Warsaw.
Everett Nifong announced that our Golf Outing will be June 7th.
Doug Jones has the Triathlon posters Allegra printed for us. See Doug if you can post one. Also we need new sponsors. Some of our prior sources are unable to donate this year. Our event is June 23rd.
Chris Wiggins announced Tri-Star Basketball will be at Baker Youth Club. Our event is Feb. 4th from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. & we are hosting the regional on Feb. 11th. Help is needed for both Saturdays, but especially on Feb. 11.
Pres. John Sullivan announced our District meeting will be Jan. 27 & 28 in Marion. Tell Jennifer Dormanor John if you are going.
Pres.-Elect Tracy Furnivall announced our Valentine’s Banquet will be 7 p.m. Feb. 8th at the Shrine Building.
Pres. John Sullivan agreed we WILL meet the morning of Feb. 8th at our usual time. Several of us thought, we are up anyway, why not eat & have fun.
Past Pres. Jeff Owens thanked our Oratorical Contest sponsors, Past Pres. George Brennan, Past Pres. John Elliott, Nick Deeter, Zimmer, & Allegra Printing. Also thanks go to Joe Sutton & Trace Hansen for their offers of sponsorships. Our event will be Feb. 24.
Video Editor, Jim Hayes, showed us 2 videos. One showed why kids’ school pictures are so bad. The other one showed the non-Ot version of the State Farm guy. We are glad we have Ot Schroeder.

Troy Akers has confessed to being a Buckeye fan.
Bill Katip had no reason for Grace’s loss last night.
Rick Kerlin was in the Times-Union for a generous donation to families of Riley kids.
Merl Heckaman was in The Paper for his expertise as an official.
Program: Our own Carol Ousley gave us an update on KREMC’s new Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI). The new meters will not need anyone to read them, saving homeowners the need to remember to read them & saving the labor of paid readers. The new meters will also communicate more effectively when your power is out. The new meters use radio frequency to report our usage. As a Not-For-Profit cooperative, KREMC will not sell any data from the meters. KREMC has the lowest residential rates among all 39 Indiana electric co-ops. For more information go to www.kremc.com.
