85 Optimists & 7 guests attended our meeting. Ron Henry & Dan Kolbe were the guests of Sam Whitaker; Noel Hoke was the guest of Marvin Miller; Brad Stahl was the guest of Ed Nordstrom; Ed Roberts was the guest of Lyle Enyeart; & Doris & Dennis Thompson were the guests of Rick Kerlin.

Car Show: Past Pres. John Elliott held a meeting about our Car Show last week. The show will be Sunday, May 20th. He reminded us that we were going to each buy a $25 plaque for participants instead of selling Christmas Trees. We all need to see if our employers can donate at the $100 or higher level. Please tell John about any Car Clubs that you know of within 100 miles of Warsaw.
Everett Nifong announced that our Golf Outing will be June 7th.
Doug Jones has the Triathlon posters Allegra printed for us. See Doug if you can post one. Also we need new sponsors. Some of our prior sources are unable to donate this year.
Chris Wiggins announced Tri-Star Basketball will be at Baker Youth Club. Our event is Feb. 4th from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. & we are hosting the regional on Feb. 11th. Help is needed for both Saturdays.
Pres. John Sullivan announced our District meeting will be Jan. 27 & 28 in Marion. Tell Jennifer Dormanor John if you are going.
Pres.-Elect Tracy Furnivall announced our Valentine’s Banquet will be 6 p.m. Feb. 8th at Stonehenge.
Past Pres. Jeff Owens announced the theme of our Oratorical Contest will be, “How my optimism helps me overcome obstacles.” Our event will be Feb. 24. Thanks go to Zimmer for letting us use their building. Deb Miller is co-chairing our contest. We need to invite our Students of the Week to participate. Applications will be on our website: www.warsawoptimist.org.
Lyle Enyeart presented Jane Wear from Cardinal Services a $1000 check for Healthy Families work with at-risk kids.
Andy Swihart reminded us of the upcoming Bowling for Big Brothers and Big Sisters. Every bowler needs to raise $100. Each team has 5 bowlers. Contact Pres. John Sullivan if you are interested. The event is in March.

50/50: Everett Nifong donated his $26 winnings to us in gratitude for Scott Whitaker’s professional young patrolman’s help getting Everett home for the LSU game.
