A double six figure recorded the number of Optimists on this
snowy morning. One guest, Jon Lippe from Huntingdon was
introduced. Greetings at the door were administered by Mark
Caruso and Past Distinguished President Mike Foreman.
The morning prayer was given by Past Distinguished David
Haines.
One “Birthdayee” for this week is Loran Sims. Since K.T.
Kishan missed being sung to last week, he was included today.
However, Luke Becknell was supposed to direct the Club, but
decided to have both of the “Birthdayees” sing to themselves.
We believe we have a new candidate in the person of K.T.
Kishan for the Optimist Singers!
We were greatly blessed to have Chubb Smith with us today
after the serious incident involving him last week. Thank you for
your prayers and thank you, Lord, for hearing us!
Chairman Past President Bob Jackson stated the Optimist
KCCCF Classic will be on Friday-Saturday, December 9, 10. He
is asking for corporation sponsors at $250 and ball boy at $50.
The teams involved are Cornerstone, Indiana Tech, Missouri
Bible, and Grace.
The 2005-2006 Club Directory is available. Special thanks go
to Jim Hayes and David Didier at Instant Copy.
New Member Chairman Luke Becknell gave the third reading
of the application received from Jon Lippe, who is being sponsored
by Past Distinguished President David Haines. Luke
also reported that Team 2 is still in the lead.
Past President Denny Andrews reported that he has not
received any word regarding the food can drive for CCS. Denny
thanked all who assisted in donating 1,177 items.
Bell Ringing Chairman Jeff Owens said that he needed seven
more slots filled; one at Wal-Mart and six at Owens East. This is
for Saturday, December 10.
Immediate Past President Ron Donkers asked those who
assisted in setting up the Christmas tree lot to stand for recognition.
He then gave a demonstration on how to sell a sad-looking
Christmas tree which would be difficult to give away.
Please pray for our Troops and Families:
Brad Andrews (Border Patrol)
Matt Horin (Navy – helo-pilot-Iraq)
Adm. Kurt Kemp (Navy)
Col. James Moeller (Air Force)

Past President Juergen Voss introduced the program which
featured the annual Jefferson Boy Scout Troop 3715 cake auction.
The leaders are Brian Berelsman, Rick Goshert,
Bernadette Kosins, Tim Sammons, and Larry Tezekjian. The
Scouts who brought items for the auction are: Taylor
Berelsman, Ryan Carmichael, Zach Jones, Nathan Kosins,
Michael Schaefer, Josh Goshert, Christian Tezekjian, Austin
Whitaker, Sean Freewalt, Alex Goshert, Nathyn Jones,
Bailey Berelsman, Luke Ganyard, Brayden Sammons. Thirty
items were bought with $736 given to the Scouts. This amount
is $250 above the total last year. It was probably increased
somewhat when Secretary Jim Jordan found himself bidding
against President Mary Ellen Jordan. Club Resident
Auctioneer Merl Heckaman was in great form again!

“We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of heaven.
We have been preserved, these many years, in peace and
prosperity. We have grown in numbers, wealth and power, as no
other nation has ever grown. But we have forgotten God. We
have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace,
and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us; and we have
vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these
blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of
our own. Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become
too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving
grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us! It
behooves us, then to humble ourselves before the offended
Power, to confess our national sins, and to pray for clemency and
forgiveness.”
