71 Optimists & 12 guests attended our meeting.  Lamont Waddell was the guest of George Brennan; Matthew Sullivan & Joe Hawn were the guests of John Sullivan; Kristine Paton was the guest of George Paton; Yolanda Hedington was the guest of Jane Wear; Steven Prater, Lucas Grose, Jordyn Coon, Rhett Kesler, Jay Holladay, Brock Anson, & Kevin West were the guests of Doug Ogle.  

Prayer was offered by Coach Doug Ogle. 

Pledge was given to the American Flag.  Promise yourself was said in unison.

Birthday Honorees:  Ann Sweet, Cub Scout, Grant, & a Basketball player.  Martin Becker led us in the birthday song with good results.

Sherriff of AttendanceBill Landrigan reported we would hear from Mike Hall during our meeting.  Video Editor, Jim Hayes outdid even himself with his picture of Sherriff Bill/Andy & Deputy Harry/Barney.

Merl Heckaman reported our day to ring the bell for Salvation Army is Dec. 3rd.  We are doing the outside of K-Mart & both doors of Wal-Mart. 

Luke Becknell reported we gave $593.95 for our Salvation Army canned food drive

Past Pres. Joel Wihebrink thanked those who unloaded Christmas Treesat Owens East. Help is needed between 1 & 3 p.m. Saturdays & Sundays to sell the trees.  Customers should pay Owens directly. Thanks to Charles Neuwirth, Owens is donating $5 to us for every tree they sell!

Angie TomJane Greene-WearTammy Keirn, & Trina Hoy are chairing our Santa House.  Jane reported the Santa House will be downtown the first weekend of December.  The next two weekends it will be at K-mart.   Octagon will help as elves.

Coach Doug Ogle introduced us to our Warsaw Com. H. S. Basketball seniors:  Steven PraterLucas GroseJordyn CoonRhett KeslerJay HolladayBrock Anson, & Kevin West.  December 10th they are playing in Hinkle Fieldhouse.

Past Pres. George Brennan thanked those who supported the CASA Holiday Festival.

Sergeants-at-Arms:  Luke BecknellJames Nesbitt, & Bob Jacksonentertained us.  Uncle Sam Whitaker was spotted on the cover of The Saturday Evening Post.  Our school children are celebrating Pizza’s designation as a vegetable.  Next week is settle-up time after the Oaken Bucket game.  Martin Becker had the unusual experience of directing the flu-fighting All Region Band in South Bend.      

50/50:  Lamont Waddell won $37 & gave it back to us.

Program:  Bill Landrigan & Merl Heckaman auctioned the Cakes fromCub Scout Troup 3715.  We raised around $355 for them.  In a way we did hear from Mike Hall.  Past President John Elliott was able to realize that Mike needed a nice cake.  Mike got a steal.  He got a $100 cake for only $30 plus a $5 delivery charge!
