Program: Vicky Decker, Development Manager for Junior Achievement, reported that JA in Northern Indiana is #1 in market penetration. Our county has two J.A. boards. Hers serves Warsaw & Tippecanoe Valley. The other board serves Wawasee. JA is free to the schools. JA is a business / education partner-ship. JA provides materials & training to the volun-teers who teach the kids. Volunteers discuss work topics & their own experiences with the kids. The program brings the real world to the classroom. JA has programs for kids from Kindergarten to 12th grade. Seventh graders learn about personal fi-nance.
The volunteer does 5 to 7 lessons. Each lesson is between 30 to 45 minutes. To do more, each board needs more volunteers & funding. To support JA, we can: volunteer in a classroom, sponsor a school or classroom, make a donation, participate in a special fundraising event. Vicky can be reached at 574-527-1701.
