President Everett Nifong reported the following Board action:
No meeting December 25 nor January 1.
The Valentine’s Banquet has been cancelled. Attendance has dwindled.
The next board meeting is Monday, November 18th at 6 p.m.
Board member Chad Zaucha presented Sandi Lancaster and Courtney Dunham with a $500 check for an iPad for Presby Preschool.
Art Gakstatter and Trina Hoy reported that our Spooktakular will be Friday, November 1 as part of First Friday. The Costume Contest is from 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Trick or Treating is from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Costume judging starts at 7:30 p.m. on the Courthouse lawn and can go until 9 p.m. Help is needed between 4:30 p.m.into the evening. At the end people are needed for the clean-up. Sponsors are Miller’s Merry Manor, WCDC, Downtown Merchants, Bowen Center, Warsaw Breakfast Optimist & others.
Past President Bob Jackson and Coach Jim Kessler invited us to the Terry Polston Hoops for Hope tournament at the Manahan Orthopaedic Capital CenterFriday, November 15 starting at 2 p.m. and Saturday, November 16 starting at 10 a.m. Tickets are $5. Proceeds go to our Kosciusko County Cancer Care Fundthat helps families who are fighting cancer to cover some of their incidental expenses. Dennis Williams sold tickets after our club meeting. Sponsorships are available at the Gold $500, Pink $250, and Orange $100 level.
Julianne Runnells and Director Martin Becker reported our Optimist Singers will sing Sunday, November 3 at Miller’s Merry Manor. Julianne Runnells reported the $5 per Chili Supper will go to the Women’s Auxiliary to help with shipping costs to our overseas service people. The meal is at 5:30 p.m. and the program is at6:30 p.m.
Tech Chairman Jim Hayes recognized Website Chairman Jeff Owens for his work rebuilding our website. If anyone has any pictures for an online scrapbook, please give them to Jeff.

Trina Hoy invited us to nominate deserving candidates for the Warsaw Kosciusko County Chamber of Commerce’s Man and Woman of the Year, Dimensions of Excellence Business Award, and Government Excellence Award. Forms are by our badge box. Past men of the year were recognized: Dr. David Haines,John Elliott, Bill Landrigan, and Jerry Clevenger. The nominations are due at the Chamber Friday, November 1. Many members are nominating Mary Ellen Jordan. Dr. Jenny Lucht recalled how Mary Ellen was a mentor to many young ladies in our community. In addition when we did the large addition to our High School, Mary Ellen was our local liaison with the Indianapolis architectural firm, saving us $100s of thousands of dollars.
Martin Becker invited us to the inauguration of our own Dr. Bill Katip as President of Grace College and Seminary Friday, November 1 at 10 a.m. at the Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center. Dr. Katip originally came to Grace as part of the Grace Brass. Twenty alumni of the Grace Brass will perform during the program.
Warsaw Community High School Boys Soccer coach Scott Bauer introduced us to fellow coaches: Frank Courtois, Ryan Burgher, James Hornaday, & Adam Churchill. Scott’s players are: Sam Allbritten, Caleb Klusman, Bryce Smith, Matt Williams, and Zak Tucker. Coach Bauer reported they have won 6 straight regional tournaments. The state record is 7.
Martin Becker invited us to Grace College Community Wind Ensemble’s Flashback 1963 concert, Friday, November 22 at 7:30 p.m. at Rodeheaver. Selections will remind us of JFK and the Beatles.
Merl Heckaman auctioned off a couple of $75 tickets to the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Holiday Festival that is Friday, November 8 at the Biomet Hanger from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The high bidder was Dr. Steven Hollar at $150 for the pair. The proceeds of the auction go to our scholarship fund. Steve is not able to attend. See Steve if you want to go.
Sergeants-at-Arms: Trace Hansen, Luke Becknell,& Lyle Enyeart entertained us. Video Editor Jim Hayes introduced us to a new graphic of our Sergeants as “The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly.”
Akash Jain is proud of his 5th grade daughter, Ananaya Jain, who won the Daughters of the American Revolution’s American History Essay Contest.
Tracy Horrell has been named the District 2 State Secondary Assistant Principal of the Year.
Rick Kerlin was recognized. 25 years ago, Kerlin Motors was celebrating 61 years in business.
Merl Heckaman is proud of his grandsons: one is in the Sectional, the other is in the Finals in Cross Country.
Laurie Schotz invited us to see The Beat Club, a Beatles tribute band at the Performing Arts Center (PAC) at Warsaw High School at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 17. Tickets are $25 and student tickets are $15. Mention the poster to get the 2nd adult ticket for free.
Bob Jackson reminded us of Warsaw’s Football Sectional at Huntertown Friday, November 1.
Nick King was recognized for Air Traffic Controllers Day.

Program:
Leslie Augustyniak told us about our Kosciusko Girl Scouts. The 300+ legacy G.S. councils have merged into 112 councils. We are now part of the Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana – Michiana. Kosciusko County Girl Scouts serve 390 girls with 119 volunteers.
Girl Scouts build girls’ courage, confidence, and character. Girls can be involved in as many or few Pathways as they want. Some Pathways are: Series which are topics like anti-bullying, Camp like Ella J Logan on Dewart Lake, Virtual online way to interact and earn badges, Travel to places near and far away, Troop to connect with friends, and Event for a day of fun.
